I have been writing, directing and acting in plays for over 25 years. My body of work is growing and I have realised there is a gap in the market for one act plays, of which I have quite a few. I hope to allow amateur, and professional, theatres to perform my plays and pantomimes at a reasonable rate. I have noticed a dearth of one act plays whilst trying to find one for my own theatre so decided to write some along with putting new energy in the British Christmas tradition of pantomimes. My skills also run to academia, as I am a university lecturer and conduct research in policing, crime and mental health. I have written articles that can be accessed by hovering over the "Scribes Menu". Ongoing research will illustrate up to date issues I feel is worthy of research. To do this via this website and to bypass academic publishing is to recognise how it is difficult for traditional scholarly endeavour to marry up with the speed of technology; social and digital media. Whilst academic articles are being reviewed, which takes several months, the speed of information flow is such that what the academic is trying to say would be out of date. To combat this, academics cannot talk about what is happening at present. Something that I found during my doctorate study was that I had to stay with seminal texts and ensure that my research was time robust. We all know that the world is changing so quickly, academia cannot keep up. It needs to change it's processes or be relegated as worthless.

I have a blog that will contain various comments on all things to do with writing for dramatic and academic purposes, along with various musings I may have.
